Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time.
- Leadership is a quality many people have; however it’s how you use that quality to guild others and guild yourself in the right direction. As for me, ever since I was a young boy I liked to be in charge, I liked to be the captain at reassess when we picked teams, I liked to be the kid that was in charge of his table, I liked to the kid that the teacher picked to be the line leader. However now as a teenager and a three year varsity starter I came to realize that it takes a lot more than just being the best athlete. You are now looked at as the face of the team, your teammates look for you when something goes wrong, your coaches turn to you when they need something done. My senior year of high school football was here. I was so excited, but there were many problems that I had to face with the players and the coaches as the captain. My coaches wanted a dedicated team that showed up to all the workouts, all the practices, so on and so forth. I was on board however a lot of our best players were not, I tried to send the message that we need to be that type of team and one kid decided to not climb on board. So I expressed how I felt about his decision and he got angry at me. It turned out he wanted to physically hurt me with other guys. I was furious and wanted to go handle it, but I stopped myself and told myself you know what you’re just off the team don’t try to show up this is my decision and its best. I lost his friendship but it was the best for the team and the image we wanted to project.
- One way I took advantage of an educational opportunity correlates with how I overcame and education a barrier. My junior year I had 2 classes that were going to be the death of me. AP US history and pre-calculus were so demanding and difficult to understand. Both my teachers offered to help me before and after school so I was constantly going to school early and staying after school getting one on one. In AP US history I was in there working on my essays and in pre- calc I was getting one on one on different strategies to attack problems. All in all this educational barrier was broken down with educational opportunities.
- I was born and raised in Lindsay and I love this city so much. It is my home and will forever be my home. A few things I have done for my school are related to ASB. I am the commissioner of male athletics at our school. Not only am I the commissioner of male athletic, I'm also the raly MC. I took upon being the MC because the ones we had never went through with it fully, so i talked to my ASB adviser and told her I'm tired of all the quieting MC's let me do it. I stuck it through and became the MC of our school as well. I am also the vice president of out varsity sports club at LHS. However it does not stop there, I also participated in making morning bulletins for a while until someone else can fill in the position. As you can see I am apart of many positions at my school but I also help a lot in decorating, planning, and help out teachers understand different things. For example my counselor one time called me in to ask about the a protest that was going on just because she trust me. I like to think that I better the school in a reliable source kind of way, because if the school needs something or someone I try to be there.
- I have many skills and talents, but there is one that I am extremely proud of and that is having great social skills. Over time i learned how to master this talent and use it to my advantage. I use it when I talk to new people, people I try to impress, and other. It helped me get a job and has helped me to even write persuasive essays. All I know is that networking is huge in this world and I believe that my social skills and ability to talk to people properly will help me get a great job in the future.
